The Tour de France goes up the Col du Tourmalet almost every year, sometimes twice. It is the most visited of all the mountain passes the Tour visits. This has much to do with its location right in the middle of the Pyrenees. In fact, it's quite difficult not to go up the Tourmalet, as there isn't any way around it.

The Tourmalet is a monster, from the east it's steep, from the west, it's wild and open and long and steep. This is a monster with teeth, and I am not the only one to have been bitten.

If you have been there, put it on your wall to remind yourself, and others, how far you have come. If you haven't been there, put it on your wall to remind yourself, and others, of how far you still have to go.
