The Col du Galibier is a classic of Le Tour de France. Steeped in cycling history and folklore, forever associated with Merckx, Coppi and all the greats of the Peloton. You don't have to be a 'great' to ride up here, but it does help. Even if you aren't great when you start, you will feel like one when you're done because you will have earned the right. Many say they feel a sense of satisfaction or achievement. I think it's a little more than that. The Galibier is special, and when you get to the top, you will feel very special too.
