Chris Froome of Team Sky, now officially a cycling legend, led the peloton up Ranmore Common Road. Attacking from the front on the steepest part of the climb, splitting the Ride London Classic apart and setting up the attack by Geraint Thomas and Ian Stannard. Normally you need to wait two and a half weeks into a grand tour to see Froome attack, but not today. Today we saw a much more aggressive Chris Froome taking it to the opposition, and putting everyone under pressure in the process.
It's not every day you can say I watched the British winner of the Tour de France attacking a star-studded peloton up a Surrey hill. But this was no ordinary day
Typical Chris Froome, not satisfied with winning the Tour de France three times with Team Sky, Froome wants the Strava KOM for Ranmore Common Road as well! He played it down at the press conference but we all know he'll be back next year because he knows if you want to be known as a truly great champion, you've got to take those KOMs

Geraint Thomas of Team Sky didn't do his popularity any harm with the cycling public by his continuous attempts to win the Prudential Ride London Classic. Did no one tell him you sit in the pack all day and just sprint at the end? The favoured spot to attack was not surprisingly Ranmore Common Road, ably supported by the legend that is Ian Stannard between them they lit up the race and came very close to winning
