Prudential Ride London

Prudential Ride London

The Prudential Ride London road cycling weekend extravaganza included a 100-mile sportive with 25,000 riders and it didn't rain once. It was a beautiful day with only the sound of birdsong and the murmur of cyclists wheels on tarmac together with the occasional gear change to be heard. So different from the normal high-speed roar of traffic, the blaring horns and the ever present road rage threat
For one day only, large parts of South West London and the surrounding countryside was turned into an oasis of British cycling and so much the better for it. Long may it continue
The Prudential Ride London Classic for the pros was won eventually by Tom Boonen of Belguim. Hats off to Team Sky for making such a good race of it, especially Geraint Thomas and Ian Stannard for their do or die effort to hold off a charging peloton. Chapeau
